SAN JOSE, Calif. — Oct. 9, 2006—Piper Jaffray & Co. is pleased to be a platinum sponsor of the Solar Power 2006 Conference and Expo Oct. 16-19 in San Jose. The Solar Power 2006 Conference and Expo is the largest business-to-business solar event held in the United States. The event is organized by the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). More than 4,000 people are expected to attend the event and more than 160 companies will exhibit.

Additionally, Piper Jaffray Senior Research Analyst Jesse Pichel will be presenting at the conference Wednesday, Oct. 18, as part of a panel titled “Public Company Valuation.” The panel will discuss the valuation of public companies in the solar space and if those valuations are a true reflection of the company's value. It will also cover what criteria are important to look at for investing in solar power companies. The moderator of the panel will be David Ratzker of Cornell Capital and the other panelists include Silvia Kreibiehl of Deutsche Bank AG and Mark Cox of Sustainable Energy Associates/New Energy Fund.

Pichel covers technology growth companies with a focus on solar power and clean technology. Pichel is based out of the firm's New York office. He has covered the growth technology companies for seven years as a research analyst with Needham & Company and C.E. Unterberg, Towbin before joining Piper Jaffray. Pichel holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Fordham University.
