NEW YORK — Oct. 16, 2006—Piper Jaffray & Co. is pleased to announce it will host its second annual Opportunities in Solar and Cleantech Symposium Feb. 21, 2007, in New York. The one-day symposium will feature presentations by more than 30 companies covering issues and trends in the solar and cleantech industry. Last year, the first symposium of its kind, dedicated toward the industry, included management presentations by 21 of the leading solar power and cleantech companies and drew more than 400 attendees for the one-day event.

“We look forward to hosting the symposium and providing clients with unique insight into ways to invest in this emerging growth industry,” said Jesse Pichel, senior research analyst at Piper Jaffray, where he covers technology growth companies with a focus on solar power and clean technology. “Solar power has the wind at its back with respect to public support, government subsidy, and technology and cost improvements. We anticipate that solar industry units will exceed semiconductor industry units in 2008.”

Some of the companies that presented last year included: BP Solar International (subsidiary of BP), Conenergy AG, DayStar Technologies, Emcore Corp., Energy Conversion Devices, ErSol Energy AG, Evergreen Solar, Inc., Konarka Technologies, Inc., LDK Solar Hi-Tech Co. Ltd., Magnetek, Inc., MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc., Nanosolar, Inc., PowerLight Corp., Solaicx, Solar Integrated Technology, SOLON AG, Spire Corporation, SunPower Corp., Suntech Power Holdings Co., and Xantrex Technology.
