Alastair Mathieson graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a law degree (LLB). He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) in 1991 in Edinburgh before moving to Paris with KPMG.
Prior to joining Stamford Partners as a partner in 2013, Mathieson worked for approximately 18 years with both Deutsche Bank, where he was a long-standing managing director in the European consumer & retail team, and Paribas. He is a fluent French speaker.
Over the course of his investment banking career, Mathieson has advised on a number of notable transactions (mergers, acquisitions, disposals, defence and corporate development assignments) across the wider consumer space in the UK, Europe and beyond. Over the years clients have included corporates such as Unilever, Danisco, private equity forms such as Blackstone, Bridgepoint and entrepreneurial, family businesses such as Harrogate Water.
Mathieson is also a board member and Trustee of Whizz-Kidz, the leading U.K. charity for young wheelchair users.
