Justin Hoogendoorn

Justin Hoogendoorn is a managing director serving as a cross market strategist for the Piper Sandler financial strategies group. He is responsible for guiding the development of relative value investment strategies, including yield curve analysis, sector/security trends and strategic outlooks. Within the relative value discussion, Hoogendoorn leads the municipal bond strategy research. Furthermore, he integrates sector and macro expectations with client objectives and constraints to create customized portfolio and issuer strategies. Hoogendoorn has appeared on CNBC and Bloomberg, and is periodically quoted in Bloomberg, the Bond Buyer, Dow Jones Newswires, and Reuters.

Prior to joining Piper Sandler, Hoogendoorn formed the strategic analytics group in October 2003 for BMO GKST. He served as a fixed income portfolio manager with Northern Trust from 1995 to 2003. He has a proven track record managing several billion dollars in total return-oriented and income-oriented portfolios including mutual funds, institutional assets, and high net worth individual portfolios. Hoogendoorn gained expertise trading and managing an encompassing set of fixed income instruments in order to integrate sector and macro expectations with client objectives to create customized, tax-efficient portfolio strategies.

Hoogendoorn holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a concentration in finance, and a bachelor’s degree from Calvin College in Michigan. He received the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in 1998 and is currently a member of the CFA Institute and the Investment Analyst Society of Chicago (IASC). He is also a registered representative with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
