Patrick Allen is a managing director in the healthcare investment banking group at Piper Sandler. With more than 20 years of experience, Allen has significant expertise in healthcare finance, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, valuations, fairness opinions and related healthcare financial services. Allen’s experience spans the healthcare landscape where he has completed multiple transactions representing not-for-profit and for-profit providers, as well as private equity firms. His experience spans a range of transaction types and structures including joint ventures, minority interests, change of corporate member, joint operating agreements, non-profit to for-profit conversions and a variety of other minority and majority interest transactions.

Allen is a frequent speaker and author on the healthcare industry, with topics including partnership structuring, evolving healthcare services models and consolidation trends. Allen has published numerous articles in industry journals and white papers. He is a regular speaker at industry events and conferences, including The Governance Institute, American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), HFMA and The Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD).

Prior to joining Piper Sandler & Co., Allen was an investment banker at Kaufman Hall where he led the mergers & acquisitions practice and previously worked for UBS in their corporate finance group as a director.

Allen earned his Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Loyola University of Chicago and his bachelor’s degree in political science from Santa Clara University.
