Two Piper Sandler research analysts honored in 2017 Thomson Reuters Analyst Awards


Piper Sandler senior research analysts Peter Appert and Bill Quirk were recognized for this year’s Thomson Reuters Analyst Awards. The analysts represent the firm's healthcare and consumer sectors. The Thomson Reuters Analyst Awards recognize the world's top individual sell-side analysts and sell-side firms.

The following analyst received awards for stock picking in the United States:

Peter Appert was recognized as a top earnings estimator in diversified consumer services in 2016 (No. 2), 2012 (No. 3), 2014 (No. 3) and 2015 (No. 1), along with best stock picker in 2014 (No. 3).

Bill Quirk won top earnings estimator in biotechnology in 2015 (No. 3), in life sciences tools & services in 2014 (No. 2), 2013 (No. 3) and 2012 (No. 1). In 2012, he was also recognized as a top earnings estimator (No. 1) and named the most accurate earnings forecaster in life sciences tools & services.


The Thomson Reuters Analyst Awards objectively measure the performance of analysts based on the returns of their buy/sell recommendations and the accuracy of their earnings estimates. The 2017 stock picking awards for the U.S. are based on the 2016 calendar-year performance of recommendations.
