Richard Hatton joined Piper Sandler & Co. in 2019 and is located in the Cincinnati, Ohio office. He has over 20 years of experience in municipal finance, having worked on in excess of $50 billion in financings. His responsibilities have included providing municipal product and structuring and strategic solutions for issuers across all sectors (i.e. economic development finance, project finance, healthcare, housing, higher education, general infrastructure, public power) nationally. Hatton served as a key member of the banking team on several of the largest and most complex underwriting transactions completed by his prior firms.
Hatton has held positions at RBC Capital Markets, UBS and JPMorgan, where he was responsible for structural advice and quantitative analysis for the Central and Southwest regions of the respective firms. While at RBC, he served as a member of the municipal product group and executed in excess of $7 billion of notional swap transactions.
Hatton is a FINRA registered securities representative, currently holding Series 7, 53, 50, SIE, 79 and 66 licenses. Hatton graduated summa cum laude from Xavier University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting. He also graduated with honors from Miami University, Ohio, where he earned his Master’s of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance. He was awarded the Charles S. Davis award for excellence in graduate study. Hatton also holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
