biotechnology to produce fuels and chemicals from renewable sources.
Cameron joined Piper Jaffray as chief science advisor in September 2008,
and is part of the firm’s global franchise in renewable energy and clean
technology. He joined Piper Jaffray from Khosla Ventures, where as chief

“Doug has been a critical proponent and leading expert in the deployment
and commercialization of biotechnology as a source of producing fuels
and chemicals as renewable sources, and this award captures his
contributions in this important field,” said Jim McMillan, manager of
biorefining process R&D at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Cameron earned a Ph.D. in biochemical engineering from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, where he did research on microbial fermentation
