Piper Sandler Expands Technology Equity Research

Senior research analysts Tom Champion and Arvind Ramnani join the firm, Yung Kim promoted to senior research analyst

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 22, 2020-- Piper Sandler Companies (NYSE: PIPR), a leading investment bank and institutional securities firm, is pleased to announce the hiring of technology senior research analysts, Tom Champion and Arvind Ramnani.

Champion brings 14 years of technology research experience and will cover both large cap and SMID cap internet stocks. Prior to joining Piper Sandler, Champion worked at Cowen Inc. for over 7 years. He received a bachelor’s degree in East Asian studies from Princeton University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania. He will be based in the firm’s New York office.

Ramnani will cover cloud applications, HR SaaS, automation and digital learning companies, with a thematic approach on the “future of work”. Over the past 20+ years, Ramnani has worked with a number of public and private software/services firms, with an emphasis on high-growth technology disruptors. Prior to joining the firm, Ramnani was a senior research analyst at KeyBanc Capital Markets, where he covered cloud software and services. He also worked at UBS, Bank of America Merrill and Bernstein. He has been recognized by Institutional Investor’s All-America Research Team, and has been frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Barron’s and Reuters. Before beginning his career in capital markets, he helped start a tech services company. Ramnani earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of MichiganStephen M. Ross School of Business and was a triple major at Luther College. He will be based in the firm’s Portland office.

In addition to these new hires, the technology team has promoted Yung Kim to senior research analyst covering the entertainment technology sector. Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Kim was a research associate at Brean Capital, where he worked on the media technology team. Kim earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business with a double concentration in finance and media management. He previously earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Connecticut College. The firm continues to invest in developing our leaders internally, and continues to make significant investments in growth and new hires in our technology sector.
