Deb Schoneman serves as president of Piper Sandler. She joined Piper Sandler in 1990 in the accounting department and has held several senior management positions, including global head of equities, chief financial officer, finance director of both equity and fixed-income capital markets and treasurer.

Beyond her executive role, Schoneman is an active corporate and community board member. She serves on the board of directors for Hormel Foods, a global branded food company, and previously served on the board of directors for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. Deeply committed to community and values-based leadership, she serves on the board of directors for Allina Health, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit health care system, where she previously spent three years as board chair. She also serves on the board of trustees for the University of St. Thomas and the advisory board for Scholars of Finance, a nonprofit dedicated to building ethical, purpose-driven future finance leaders. Additionally, she has completed three mission trips to Haiti through the organization Healing Haiti.

Schoneman was named to American Banker’s "Most Powerful Women to Watch" lists in 2024 and 2025 and was awarded "CFO of the Year" by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal in 2014.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of St. Thomas.
