John Fay

John Fay oversees the equity cash trading desk at Piper Sandler, joining the firm through the 2019 acquisition of Weeden & Co.

Prior to his current role, he acted as a sector trader focused on financials for six years, an equity trader at Weeden for 15 years and performed a similar role at UBS from 1998 to 2006. Fay and his team utilize the firm’s platform and technology to provide seamless, professional and high-quality execution to clients worldwide. The desk also works closely with the Piper Sandler research teams to provide clients’ trading desks with pertinent and timely calls and information.

Fay attended Fairfield University and graduated in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He has lived in Darien, Connecticut, with his wife, Christina, and four children since 2002.
