P. Richard Tuohey Jr.

P. Richard Tuohey Jr. is a managing director in the financial services group at Piper Sandler. In this role, he advises the boards and senior management teams of financial institutions on strategic matters, including capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, balance sheet restructurings and optimizations as well as asset/liability management. His product expertise includes mortgage-backed securities, municipal bonds, agency and non-agency RMBS/CMBS, derivatives, collateralized loan obligations, bank owned life insurance, sale lease back and commercial/residential whole loan sales.

Previously, Tuohey was a partner of Sandler O’Neill & Partners, L.P. He joined Sandler O’Neill in 1998, was appointed associate director in 2002, managing director in 2003 and partner in 2009.

Tuohey graduated from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He played Varsity lacrosse all four years and captained the team as a senior. He was awarded Division I All American honors that year.

Tuohey holds his Series 7, Series 63, Series 24 and is a registered Associated Person of the National Futures Association. He currently resides in Florida with his wife and two children and works out of the West Palm Beach office.
