Peter J. Phillippi

Peter J. Phillippi is a managing director and head of the hospitality finance investment banking group at Piper Sandler.

Phillippi joined Piper Sandler in 1998 and has more than 34 years of investment banking experience, including hotel real estate financing, project revenue financing, specialty lease financing, public-private partnerships and general state and local government financings across the nation. Phillippi’s primary focus for more than 28 years has been financing convention center and conference center hotel projects. He has experience with all aspects of the project delivery process, including underwriting, raising capital and providing consulting services for financial and credit structuring, legal structuring, and development, construction and operational negotiations for hotel and other project revenue financings.

Phillippi has successfully completed more than $40 billion in financings. He has expertise in providing a wide variety of investment banking and consulting services to both private- and public-sector entities, including cities, states, state agencies, counties, universities, transportation boards, school districts, nonprofit corporations, industrial development authorities, hotel operators, investors, rating agencies, hotel owners and real estate developers.

Phillippi graduated from Arizona State University with degrees in finance and political science. He is registered with the New York Stock Exchange and National Association of Securities Dealers as a general securities representative and is a member of the Urban Land Institute’s Hotel Development Council.
