Richard Hatton
Richard Hatton joined Piper Sandler in 2019 and is located in the Cincinnati office. He has more than 26 years of experience in municipal finance, having worked on more than $50 billion in financings. His responsibilities have included providing municipal product, structuring and strategic solutions for issuers across all sectors nationally, including economic development finance, project finance, healthcare, housing, higher education, general infrastructure and public power. Hatton served as a key member of the banking team on several of the largest and most complex underwriting transactions completed by his previous firms.
Hatton has held positions at RBC Capital Markets, UBS and JPMorgan, where he was responsible for structural advice and quantitative analysis for the central and Southwest regions of the respective firms. While at RBC, he served as a member of the municipal product group and executed more than $7 billion of notional swap transactions.
Hatton is a FINRA-registered securities representative and holds Series 7, 50, 53, SIE, 66 and 79 licenses. Hatton graduated summa cum laude from Xavier University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting. He also graduated with honors from Miami University in Ohio, where he earned his Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance. He was awarded the Charles S. Davis Award for excellence in graduate study. Hatton also holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst.
