Ted Christianson

Ted Christianson is a managing director in the merchant banking group, a member of the general partner and serves on the Investment Committee. Christianson has worked in the financial services sector for more than 35 years. Prior to Christianson’s current role, he served as global group head of the Piper Sandler capital advisory group which includes the firm’s private equity placement, financial restructuring and debt capital markets product businesses. Christianson joined Piper Sandler in 1998 as a member of the private placement group where he was instrumental in building the group into one of the leading placement practices in the industry. Christianson assumed management responsibilities of the firm’s private placement practice in 2001 and later formed and assumed management responsibility of the capital advisory group in 2008, before joining the merchant banking group in 2017. Christianson also served in various senior leadership positions as a member of the firm’s Investment Banking Commitment Committee and Global Group Head Council. Prior to joining Piper Sandler, Christianson held various positions with Norwest Bank (now merged with Wells Fargo).

Christianson has served on the investment team for the following selected portfolio companies: CereVasc, Kandu, Scientia Vascular, Integrity Orthopaedics, Cleerly, Moxe Health, Paragon 28, Akoya Biosciences, Clinicient and HemaSource. Christianson has served on the board of, or held board observation responsibility for, the following companies: Teak, Cafe Rio, Foodsby, Mike’s Hot Honey and Advanced BioEnergy. In addition, Christianson currently serves on the nonprofit board of the Dunwoody College of Technology, serves as treasurer and is chair of its Finance Committee. He also previously served on the board of the Minnesota Zoo Foundation.

Christianson graduated from Colorado College and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
