Transaction Summary
Piper Sandler served as Sole Manager of Prairie Seeds Academy’s (PSA) $28,070,000 issuance of “Ba2” rated Charter School Lease Revenue & Refunding Bonds, Series 2024 through the City of Brooklyn Park, MN. Proceeds of the Series 2024 Bonds were used to refund outstanding Charter School Lease Revenue Refunding Bonds, Series 2015A (thereby refinancing the existing school facility), finance the acquisition of approximately 2.4 acres of land adjacent to the existing school facility and the renovation, construction and equipping of an approximately 44,800 square foot addition to the existing school facility and exterior amenities, fund a debt service reserve fund for the Series 2024 bonds and pay the costs of issuance of the 2024 bonds.

About Prairie Seeds Academy
Prairie Seeds Academy is a Minnesota nonprofit corporation and charter school founded in 2004 by Cha-Ger Yang and Choua Yang as an extension of their commitment to educational opportunity and to making a difference in the lives of those who are underrepresented in and underserved by existing public school choice options. Serving students from Kindergarten through 8th Grade, PSA develops and preserves Hmong language and culture and intentionally pursues diversity  in its student body which represents many diverse communities. The Charter School was designed so that each student would be able to identify with their own culture, resulting in knowledge of who they are contributing to a greater sense of belonging, where they come from and ultimately assisting students to become productive citizens mature adults in today’s society.
